Course Description
The Doctoral Studies Orientation provides new students with an overview of the program, from coursework to dissertation proposal and, finally, the successful completion of the dissertation. The orientation will cover the scope and sequences of the coursework with an overview of how the research benchmark assignments are integrated to prepare students for successful dissertation proposals and completion. Also highlighted in this orientation will be an overview of the program's online teaching and learning approach and expectations for student performance as outlined in the doctoral student handbook. This course will also explore what the Lutheran identity is at Concordia University Irvine and how that is integrated within the program. Students will also participate in process group training experiences to practice the relational skills necessary to grow both personally and professionally in their character development. This accelerated 2-week online course will prepare students for subsequent classes, as well as the on-campus Residency (held at a later date). Offered as a Pass/No Pass course.
