Course Description

Before coaches can focus on the fundamentals, tactics, and strategies for their teams, they need to make sure their athletes are physically primed. This course will provide leaders in sport with the practical understanding of the key elements necessary for optimal physical development of athletes. There are four core components that must be addressed in order to maximize athletes’ physical capabilities. ‘Fusion’ is a scientific process that results in the release of a massive amount of energy. In athletics, this term translates to the development of explosive power through strength training. ‘Flexibility’, the ability of joints to move unrestricted and pain-free through a range of motion, is essential for both outstanding performance and injury prevention. Training for high level cardiovascular and Body Mass Index (BMI) ‘Fitness’ provides capacity, resilience, and the stamina to excel. ‘Fuel’ refers to athletes consuming proper nutrition. Coaches have a responsibility to encourage their athletes consumption of proper fuel. By cultivating knowledge of these four critical domains, coaches can train their athletes not only to be primed for elite physical performance, but help them develop healthy habits for life.
